Captain Edward Tiverton
Captain Edward Tiverton is a 30 year old Captain of the Dreadnought Resilience, son of Lord Charles Tiverton and Son of the Republic. Sent to boarding schools throughout his life, Edward has all the graces proper to a Son of the Republic, but also a deep seeded resentment towards his father. Having only seen his father a handful of times, he has had to cope with a feeling of emotional abandonment. He especially blames his father for having left his mother, leading her into a spiral of depression and her eventual death when he was only 13. In a world where you cannot escape your birth, he has tried to reject his association with his father while all the while benefiting from it. This awkward juxtaposition fueled a host of self-destructive behavior throughout his time at [the prestige board school ???] and ultimately lead to a clash between Edward and Admiral James Strathmore during Edward's first year at the naval academy which nearly led to his expulsion. Only through the patience and compassion of this senior commander was Edward finally able to break past his self-loathing and begin to build a firm foundation upon himself. Since that point, Edward has excelled at everything he does. He earned high marks at the academy, graduated top of his class and completed a number of assignment in the Republic's navy with distinction. He is one of the youngest in the navy to make the rank of Captain and he continues to serve as an example of focus, energy and discipline to all who serve underneath him. After rescuing the surviving crew of a decompressing freighter in the Brandeis from a Commonwealth privateer, Captain Tiverton finds himself with the strangest of assignments. On the Resilience's return to port for refitting, a Mercurian Sloop intercepts the ship with an urgent new set of Admiral's Orders for the captain. To his shock, the orders instruct him to locate and destroy the commandeered Frigate Luminance before it reaches any port in a Commonwealth territoriate, along with all her crew, including her renegade captain, and presumed defector, Admiral Strathmore.
